SRINAGAR, Aug 1: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, . Sham Lal Sharma convened a meeting of officers here today and discussed several issues related to the overall functioning of the PHE department. He also took stock of the arrangements made for the ensuing festivals. Commissioner/Secretary, PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Chief Engineers, PHE, Kashmir/Jammu, . A.M. Lanker and Mr. K.K. Gupta, Chief Engineers, Irrigation & Flood Control, Kashmir/Jammu, Mir Javed Jaffer and Virender Badyal were present in the meeting. The Minister issued instructions to the engineers to make elaborate arrangements for meeting the drinking water needs of the people across the State during the holy month of Ramadhan, Jumat-u-u-Vida, Shab-i-Qadr and Id-ul-Fitr and there should be no complaint of any scarcity of water in any part of the State. To meet the demand in the vulnerable locations, he directed for pressing into service the tanker service. He directed the Chief Engineers to chalk out a well-knit strategy to meet the regular supply of water in all areas during the festival days, especially in the shrines, Darghas and Mosques where devotees in large number throng for prayers. |
