JAMMU, Aug 1: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) today organised prize distribution function for recently held inter-sector competition in the disciplines of Badminton and Table Tennis under the banner of Directorate of Sports of the Board at holy town of Katra.
Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Board, Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari was chief guest in the valedictory function, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes.
Speaking to the gathering, Dr Bhandari congratulated the winners and runners up teams and encouraged those other participants. He disclosed that the Shrine Board was in the process of developing infrastructure both indoor and outdoor so as to encourage sports among the staff members and locals of Katra.
Earlier, Director Sports, Ashok Kumar presented a brief note of the activities held and stressed the need for more participation from the staff next time. He said that sports help build team spirit and also make the staff health conscious.
Those felicitated for their performance in the competition were Aseem Chadha, Vivek Dubey, Pardeep Jamwal, Balraj Singh, K Koul, Pavinder Kumar, Sampooran, Dr Amit Sachdeva, Sanjeev Mangotra, PL Sharma, Charan Dass, Vishal Sharma, Dinesh Nanda, Rajesh, Sanjeev Koushal, Sumit, Vinod, Sanjay, Neeraj Katoch, Vipin Sharma, Sanjeev Thappa, Joginder Singh, Sumit Kumar, Ved Parkash, Rahul and Ashwani Kohli.
Penal of technical officials, who conducted the events were also felicitated. They were Vikrant Singh, Dhan Raj Singh, Vikram Singh Jamwal and Amit Sharma.
