| Indian troops ready to hit back if Pak continues ceasefire violations | | | Et Report
Jammu, Aug 13: Besides the Army commander, Northern command and Corps commanders stationed in Jammu and Kashmir have been asked to keep troops deployed on the Line of Control and the International Border ready for any retaliatory action in case Pakistani troops continued to resort to unprovoked firing on the Indian border posts. Sources said that Pakistan had started blaming the Indian troops for violating the ceasefire agreement when there was no truth in its allegation. They said that New Delhi has asked its diplomatic mission in Islamabad to give detailed account of firing incidents on the border in which a numb er of Indian soldiers were injured. According to sources after instructions from the Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh to the troops to retaliate with full fury and force the latest statement from the Defence Minister A K Antony was a clear signal to the Indian border guards to hit back with full force whenever Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing on the Indian posts. They said that New Delhi blamed top brass of the Pakistan Army and not the civilian regime for fuelling fresh border conflict. They said that while Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was in favour of resumption of Indo-Pak dialogue some hardliners within the cabinet and the senior Army and the ISI functionaries were opposed to talks. In support of their contention that Nawwaz Sharif was still in the grip of top Army authorities and the hardliners within the Government the sources referred to the latest decision of Islamabad announcing that grant of Most Favoured Nation Status to India has been delayed. |
