| Illegal constructions galore in Pahalgam | | Authorities in deep slumber | | Saahil Suhail Anantnag, Aug 13: With authorities concentrating on the situation arising out of Kishtwar violence, unscrupulous elements continue to vandalize the Valley of shepherds by constructing illegal structureseven though High Court has banned construction in the ecologically fragile area. Informed sources said that a day before Eid, violators earlier exposed by early times resumed construction of their respective hotels and huts as the authorities facilitated them by remaining mum. Sources said that violators who have been booked for illegal constructions identified as Ab Rashid Bhat alias Rashid Sabzi Resident of Ganshibal Aishmuqam, Siraj-u-din, a businessman and Srinagar resident continued construction works in their huts at Movera. They said that similarly others including Manzoor Ahmed Tarray resident of Katoo, Mohd Iqbal resident of Anantnag, Muzaffer Ahmad resident of Srinagar, Tariq Ahmad Bhat resident of Srinagar, Mustaq Ahmad resident of Thajiwara Bijbehara, Riyaz Ahmad resident of Ganshibal Pahalgam and Ab Majeed Khan resident of Movera Pahalgam, carried out works taking the benefit of prevailing situation in the state. They said that interior construction works of a hotel being constructed at Serchain area of Pahalgam also continues. Pertinently CEO Pahalgam Development authority has assured that FIR will be lodged against the violator, reportedly who happens to be a Personal assistant of Urban Local Bodies Director, however police hasn't lodged any FIR against the influential PA backed by National Conference south Kashmir leader. Official sources said that violators were taking benefit of high alert sounded by security agencies ahead of 15th August and of prevailing situation due to communal riots in Kishtwar region as the state government machinery and state police focused attention on restoration of normalcy in the state. Saner elements while extending support for efforts aimed at restoration of peace have urged the authorities not to allow further vandalization of the beautiful valley. |
