KISHTWAR, Sept 1: The word "Press" written on private vehicles in Kishtwar and Doda Districts of Jammu and Kashmir are widely being misused as several vehicles including some that of government employees and politicians were seen moving on roads in the twin districts without any check. As per the details, the Kishtwar District, which is limping back to normalcy after witnessing communal clashes last month, also suffered on account of misuse of word "Press" on certain vehicles allegedly used in flaring communal violence. One such case was also raised during the meeting of Group of Ministers chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand in which some speakers alleged that a private vehicle with word "Press" written on it moved towards Padder Tehsil of this District that witnessed communal clashes on August 10, a day after Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas witnessed the worst ever communal clashes. When contacted District Information Officer Kishtwar, Vinay Sharma said that the department of Information at Kishtwar did not issue any permission to anyone including some registered journalists for any use of word "Press" or any logo on their vehicles. He assured that he will take up the matter with concerned authorities and added that in case anyone found violating rule will be dealt in accordance to law. |
