| Majority of Congress party leaders support removal of DIG DKR | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Sept 1: Majority of Congress leaders hailing from erstwhile Doda District viz Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban supports the removal of DIG DKR Ashkoor Wani for his alleged controversial role in August 9 Kishtwar violence and its aftermath. According to sources, the Congress leaders while discussing the issue during the recent visit of Ambika Soni and Ghulam Nabi Azad held detailed deliberations with local Congress leaders over Kishtwar communal clashes and its impact on Congress vote bank. The sources within the Congress party said that several Congress leaders expressed their concern over large scale politicizing of the issue by the BJP and added that in case the issue did not stop, the Congress party will suffer heavily in Jammu region. The sources further added that Congress leaders also favoured the removal of DIG Ashkoor Wani as the Congress leaders informed the party leaders that the demand of removal of Ashkoor Wani is not only the demand projected by the BJP, but majority of the people belonging to minority community including Congress party workers from minority community and Sanatan Dharm Sabha Kishtwar also demand the immediate removal of DIG Ashkoor Wani so that the confidence among the minority community including the victims of communal clashes could be restored. They also supported the demand of compensation at par with the losses suffered to the business and property during the clashes. The Congress leaders stress upon the party high command to expedite the process of disbursement of compensation among the victims. The Congress leaders feel that in case of any delay in disbursement of compensation among the victims, the party leaders feel that BJP might exploit the situation and turn the same in his party favour. The party leaders also suspect that Kishtwar communal clashes are the handiwork of National Conference- BJP and urged the party leadership to look into the reports and allegations, beside to take appropriate action in case the reports of nexus between and NC and BJP proved to be right. The Congress leaders also put forth the demand for sanctioning of special relief package in favour of earthquake affected victims of erstwhile Doda District that has witnessed over 50 major and mild earthquakes since May 1 this year. It is pertinent to mention that all the political leaders belonging to minority community irrespective of their party affiliation shows their support to Sanatan Dharm Sabha Kishtwar fighting for the cause of the August 9 Eid violence victims, majority of whom belongs to minority community. Sanathan Dharm Sabha Kishtwar also supported the immediate removal of DIG Ashkoor Wani. |
