| No appreciation for Jammu gymnast representing India | | Omar continues to be indifferent | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 1: The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah continues to be indifferent to Jammu talent. A girl gymnast representing India at the world championships at Ukraine gets no appreciation from him. A promising Gymnast from J&K, Palak Kour was selected to represent the country in the 32nd seniors world rhythmic gymnastics championships at Kiev -Ukraine held during the past week. Only two Gymnasts from the India, Palak Kour and Nishtha Shah of Maharashtra had made it to the world championship and the Arjuna awardee gymnastic coach of Jammu Krupali Singh was accompanied them to the event being organized by the Ukraine Gymnastics Federation & International Gymnastics Federation. Teams of 55 Countries competed in this Championship and have been put in nine groups & Indian Team was put in D Group with teams of Brazil, Egypt, Sweden, Korea and Czech Republic A student of Presentation Convent, Palak had also represented the country in the Asian Gymnastics Championship held at Tashkent and Youth Asian Games held at Yakutia, Russia & have earned many Medals for the state in various national games. But this achievement is not recognized by the valley centric chief minister, Omar Abdullah, who only talks about Kashmir valley and doesn't consider Jammu as part of the state. This approach by chief minister is likely to alienate the Jammu people, concerned citizens feel. It would have not taken more than one minute to type few words of appreciation for Jammu girl as she is representing India at world championship. But he kept mum and gave an impression that Jammu doesn't matter for him. |
