Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 25 : Though political analysts and security experts hope that two-month long tension on the LoC and the IB in Jammu and Kashmir, result of repeated ceasefire violations by Pak troops, would ease shortly after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was snubbed by the US President,Barack Obama, both the BSF and the Army have started deploying additional companies of troops on the border.
Official sources in Jammu said that till date there was no respite from ceasefire violations by Pak troops in which normal life in border villages stands paralyzed during the last one fortnight. In view of these developments "we cannot sit idle. We have to initiate foolproof measures for countering Pak firing and in this context we have started deploying additional columns of forces on the LoC and the IB to meet any eventuality and to foil infiltration bids," said senior officials. They said that even after the India's DGMO talked to his Pak counterpart on the need for honouring ceasefire agreement there was no improvement in the ceasefire violations in which sever al Indian border outposts and villages are being targeted by mortar and gun fire by Pakistani forces.
Asked whether time had come for moving troops to the IB for assisting the BSF in meeting any challenge from across the border official sources said "there was no immediate need for emulating Pakist an which has moved columns of troops to assist the Rangers on the IB." They said that the BSH jawans were fully prepared and equipped for tackling any emergency on the IB. They said if the situation further deteriorated India has the option for deploying troops alongwith the BSF jawans on the IB.
The sources said that the Army and the BSF authorities have been asked to keep the troops on high alert and intensify round the clock patrolling on the entire border with Pakistan. They said that with improved border management "we will be able to defeat Pakistan machinations and mischief."
