Jammu, Oct 25: 2 day long vocational training programme on 'Fish deboning and value addition of carp fishes' concluded at KVK Jammu, SKUAST-J, R. S. Pura today. The objective of the training was to aware people with the consumption and importance of fish for human beings, different processing methods, preparation, marketing and packaging of different value added products. In two days training, Prem Kumar, SMS (Fisheries), SKUAST-J dwelt upon issues and demonstrated value addition of carp fishes by making Fish Cutlet, Fish Finger, Fish balls and Fish soup which are the ways of ensuring effective utilization and making ready-to-serve or ready-to-cook value added products. Dr Anil Sharma, KVK Jammu urged the farmers to adopt the value addition of carp after deboning to increase their income and profitability as well as some new dishes on plate for people of Jammu besides he also highlighted mandate wise function of KVK. Dr Pradeep Rai informed that fish is high value protein diet for growing children and de-boning of carp flesh will help in higher consumption of fish among them. The fish products are also very beneficial for old-age persons due to tenderness and easy digestion of its flesh. Dr Vinod Gupta advised the farmers to adopt new technologies of post-harvest processing and value-addition of carp fish for uplifting the profession and new techniques for marketing of their produce. Ms. Poonam Abrol, KVK Jammu also spoke on the related topic. Dr S. P. Gupta presented the vote of thanks at the end. |
