Srinagar, Oct 25 : The failure of scientific disposal of waste according to the residents of Achan Syedpora of Eid Gah area is proving hazardous for the residents as bad odour which generates out of the bio and non degradable waste dumped without any segregation. While accusing the authorities for playing with the lives of thousands of people of the area, the residents of Achan said that waste collected from different areas of the city is dumped without any segregation as the two filtration plants installed for the purpose are not functioning properly and lack of scientific knowledge among the concerned employees has made their life hell. Locals while talking to Early Times said that despite filing a case against the concerned department in a local court for violating the prescribed guidelines of dumping the waste, nobody among the administration cares for the lives of thousands of people of the area as the process of dumping waste is still going on. "We feel unsafe here now as bad odour which emanates out of the waste dumped is killing us slowly and silently. The irony is that nobody among the administration cares," says Mushtaq Ahmad. |
