| Jammu, Oct 25: Expressing solidarity with Chamel Singh's family who was killed in Kot Lakhpat jail of Pakistan, BJP today has demanded martyr status and compensation of Rs One Crore to the family of Chamail Singh and has also decided to take up the matter with State Human Rights Commission.On behalf of the Human Rights Cell of Bharatiya Janata Party, State BJP Incharge of Cells Sat Sharma (CA) filed a complaint with the State Human Rights Commission mentioning the Human Rights violations in the globally recognised case of Late Chamel Singh who died in Kot Lakhpath Jail of Lahore, earlier this year. Pertinent to mention, Chamel Singh lost his life when he was brutally beaten by Jail inmates and some officials of Jail Authorities. Sat Sharma (CA), said that we have filed a complaint with the Chairman, State Human Rights commission in this regard on 22nd October and we will see to it that the family of Chamel Singh gets fair justice. He also said that State Government has done nothing yet in this case, where as Punjab Government has awarded Late Sarabjit Singh's family with a compensation of Rupess One Crore and jobs for both his daughters which shows a gesture of humanity by Punjab Government. Sharma also stated that MP (Rajya Sabha) Avinash Rai Khanna who is also looking after the political affairs of the BJP in the State has also demanded a compensation from the Central Government for his family and has communicated to President of India, Prime Minister of India and Union Home Minister in this regard. |
