| Noose tightened on Polythene supply | | Committee constituted, cameras to be installed at Toll Post Lakhanpur | | early times report Jammu, Oct 25: Complying the court's order , the government today constituted a five member committee to explore the feasibility of installation of technical/electronic equipments i.e. scanners etc, for checking frisking at Toll Post Lakhanpur to detect illegal movement of banned polythene. According to sources a committee was constituted on High Court's Order dated 26 September, 2013 in the case PIL OWP No. 159/2002 titled Syed Tahir Iqbal Geelani V/s State of J&K and others. "The committee comprising of five officers was constituted to explore the feasibility of installation of technical/electronic equipments i.e. scanners etc. for checking/frisking the vehicles passing through the Toll Post at Lakhanpur, so as to detect illegal movement of banned polythene in the State, official statement said. "The committee members included Chief Engineer Mechanical, Kashmir as Chairman, Additional Commissioner, Commercial Taxes (Adm) Jammu as Member, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur as Member-Secretary and representative from Police Headquarters and Senior Law Officer and Finance Department as Members, statement said. It further added that the committee is directed to submit its report within a period of one month and shall be serviced by the Office of the Excise Commissioner. |
