JDC seeks creation of more tourism destinations in Jammu

Jammu, Nov 16: Jammu Development Council (JDC) sought creation of more tourist destinations in Jammu region.
According to press release, General Secretary of JDC Balwinder Singh Bhatia that nearly 16 years back, the state offices, along with high court and lower courts were shifted from Mubarak Mandi. But till date neither the Mubarak Mandi complex has been got renovated nor work on connecting roads has been started.
"Under the proposal of government old city Jammu was to be developed in which it was proposed that the old city of Jammu is beautified, proper parking places for vehicle are made.
As per Tourism Programme, Tourism spots be developed, play grounds for children, proper matador stand for the public be also made. But till date the government, is not initiating any steps to develop the old city" said Bhatia. He further said that the Jarnmuites feel that they are being discriminated in all phase of development, especially in tourism no funds are earmarked during budget session for development of tourism in Jammu province.
"The project of Bahu-Fort, Mohmaya temple, Peer kho artificial lake, Gandola project from Mubarak Mandi to Bag-e-Bahu and other development works proposed by the government, for bringing the Jammu on map of tourism has been put in cold storage and the voice of Jarnmuites is buried in this regard" Bhatia said. Bhatia appealed centre and state government to take immediate steps for undertaking the development works completion of Mubarak Mandi complex, Tawi Lake project, construction of roads connecting Jain Bazar to circular Road, Parking places, more metador stands.
