Modi's fear forces Congress leaders to iron out differences
11/16/2013 10:41:09 PM
ET Report
Jammu, Nov 16: Strong wave of BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi seems to be having forced faction ridden Congress leaders to iron out their differences to face the challenge. The way Congress leaders turned out in the "Eid-Diwali-Gurupurab Milan" function organised by Jammu Lawyers is a clear indication that Modi fear has gripped the Congress leaders and they have realized that they can save the party from disastrous only by presented a united face. Leaders of the all factions were present in the function to give a message of unity to civil society.
Officially Congress leaders are not admitting Modi's factor in Jammu and Kashmir but internally they have been admitting that there is storm in favour of BJP especially in the Lok Sabha elections. The State Congress leaders are not very keen about party's performance in Lok Sabha elections but there is feeling among them that change of guard in New Delhi would have great impact on the politics of Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, Congress leaders were thinking that change of guard in New Delhi would not change their chances of becoming part of the next Government in the State but some recently developments in BJP circles have created jitters among Congress leaders.
A section in the BJP has kick started a debate that after getting power at Centre, party would aggressively contest next Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir to become part of the Government. Central high command of BJP, especially RSS, is very particular to give importance to Jammu and Kashmir after attaining power at New Delhi. Party has already prepared a blue print to win at least 15 to 20 seats in the next Assembly elections so that party become part of the Government or a strong force to contain Kashmir centric parties like National Conference and PDP to preach their pro-separatist agenda.
