| Kashmiri film "Partav" screened in Kolkata International Film Festival | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 16: First Kashmiri 35 mm digital film "Partav" was screened today in the Kolkata international film festival and won accolades of the audience. Kolkata international film festival is considered one of the best in the film festivals in the world. The magnitude of the festival can gauged by the fact that from thousands of entries 189 films were selected, 152 directors were invited to participate from 63 countries and 13 venues were chosen to exhibit the films. The festival was inaugurated at Netaji Indoor Stadium on 10th November 2013, with captains of the industry like Amitabh Bachan, Shahrukh Khan, Jaya Bachan Mithun Chakerborty, Prosonjit Chitopadhay gracing the occasion. Film Sunglass featuring Naseeruddin Shah, Jaya Bachan, R. Madhvan and directed by departed Rupianro Ghosh marked the beginning of the festival. An imminent jury consisting of prominent names in film industry selected "Partav" for screening. "It is indeed honour that the film was selected for screening," said the director and the writer of the film Dilnawaz Muntazir who was invited to attend the festival. Rubbing shoulders with the prominent film makers of the country and the world was a unique experience he says. In this film festival Centenary tributes to legendry Burt Lacanster, Vivien Liegh and Balraj Sahani were paid by showcasing their work, " Elmer Gantry:, " Gone with the wind"' Garam Hawa". Homage was paid to Nagisa Oshima and in retrospective section work of Adoor Gopala Krishna. The grand premier and the screenings of the film are going to be held in the first week of December. People connected with the media and general public are keenly awaiting the opportunity to see film after very fabulous reviews in the national and local press. The grand premier and the screenings will be held in Convocation Complex of University of Kashmir and Prof. Talat Ahmad will be the chief Guest. |
