SRINAGAR, Nov 16: Hitting back at hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani for his recent statement that only gun can resolve Kashmir issue; Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz today condemned his statement and said that gun which in past brought miseries into the lives of common people has no role to play now. Addressing a public rally in Laln Ganoor area of Anantnag assembly constituency, Soz said, "It's very unfortunate that before a couple of days I heard a separatist leader had said that gun can only resolve Kashmir issue. I strongly condemn his statement as we know that the gun has no role. In past you have yourself seen that gun brought only miseries into our lives," adding if they insist, we will try our best to destroy it. He said that if we have Islamic identity we have to preserve it besides Article 370 due which state will be prosperous and peaceful. "We have separatist who have their own politics I respect them but if they again want to bring back gun in Kashmir we will destroy it by full power." Soz said, adding Kashmir no more needs gun. Commenting on the recent controversy over the Aziz-Separatist meeting in New Delhi, Soz said that these meetings are taking place from the time of NDA regime so UPA or Congress party has not did anything wrong. Advocating separatists especially Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to talk directly with Prime Minister, Congress chief said, "I would like to tell these separatists especially Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to start dialogue with Government of India. If they are ready I will facilitate their meeting with honorable Prime Minister." Soz said adding Kashmir issue can't be resolved in the office of Pakistan High commissioner. "Except a cup of tea or lavish dinner, what you can get from Pakistani embassy?" he questioned and assured help to facilitate such a dialogue. He said that India is a big country and nobody can intervene into its internal issues, even America.
"Pakistan requested Obama to press India for talks with them but he denied as he also knows that India can itself resolve its problems.' Soz said. Prof Soz declared Hilal Ahmad Shah, general sectary district Congress committee as the party candidate for the Anantnag assembly constituency.
