| Samba bus stand constructed 2 decades ago, still non functional | | | Neeraj Badyal
Samba, Nov 17 : About 2 decade's ago main Bus stand at Samba district was constructed to facilitate passengers and ease congestion on main chowk Samba. It was not made functional despite several inaugurations by politicians and bureaucrats.
This bus stand was constructed about 2 decades earlier with an expenditure of crore of rupees to facilitate local peoples as well visiting pilgrims from outside the state. Then chief minister Delhi Sheila Dikshit inaugurated the bus stand first time as local people felt happy over inauguration of the bus stand with a hope that this will provide a source of income to them besides local people intending to travel outside the state also get bus service from their home town. People from the locality including, Chanchal Bhatti, Pardeep Lalotra, social worker Khem Raj Sharma. Pardeep Sambyal and BJP Yuva leader Sanjeev Kumar while talking to this correspondent said government acquired land with an assurance that it will give job besides space to run their business in the bus stand complex, but after lapse of 20 years this stand has not been made functional resulting in no benefit to local people.
This bus stand became war of politics and was got inaugurated after for more than half dozen time but could be not made functional due to reasons not known. Necessary directions were also not issued to Municipal Committee ,Police, Traffic and Regional Transport Office as the area of bus stand is presently being used for playing cricket only. |
