Sports Reporter SRINAGAR, Nov 17: Srinagar boys and Anantnag girls today clinched the championship trophies in the 8th State Baseball Championship, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Baseball Association at Islamia College of Science and Commerce ground, here. In the boys' title clash, Srinagar boys faced a tough resistance before they outplayed Government College of Physical Education Ganderbal 8-4 homes. Similarly, in girls section, Anantnag trounced Srinagar to emerge winners. Rubia Syed from Anantnag was declared best player while best player title in boys' category went to Shahnawaz of Srinagar. In the final and valedictory function, Principal, Islamia College, Prof Mohammad Aslam Baba was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Prominent among others present were Director Physical Education, ICSC, Altaf-ur-Rehman, Manager, State Sports Council, Mushtaq Ahmad, member Sports Council, Fayaz Ahmad, Bilqees Mir, Fida Hussain Fidvi (general secretary of the Association). The Association also felicitated Malik firdous, Fouzia Saleem, Shah Aijaz and Asif Farooq for their contribution in the successful conduct of the championship. |
