NSF pays tributes to Lala Lajpat Rai in Campus

Jammu, Nov 17: National Secular Forum (NSF), Jammu University Unit organized a programmed in Jammu University, and on the Martyrdom of Lala Lajpat Rai who laid his life for the country.
Amid slogans "Lala Lajpat Rai '"inqulaab Zindabad" 'Bharat Mata ki jai", and they paid tributes to Lala Lajpat Rai and garlanded the portraits of the son of soil.
Ankush Abrol Sr.NC Leader and Social Activists was the chief guest, Dr.Vikas Sharma, presided over the function while Sukhdev Singh president NSF was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion Ankush Abrol appreciated the efforts of NSF members to come forwarded and organized these function. He said that Lala Lajpat Rai was one of the foremost leaders who fought against British rule in India. He was popularly known as Punjab Kesari (Lion of the Punjab).
He also said that Lala Lajpat Rai led the Punjab protests against the Jallianwalla Bagh Massacre and the Non-Cooperation Movement. He was arrested several times. In 1928, British Government decided to send Simon Commission to India to discuss constitutional reforms. The Commission had no Indian member. This greatly angered Indians.
Dr.Vikas Sharma also addressing on this occasion and light on the life of Lala Lajpat Rai, Lala Lajpat Rai was born on January 28, 1865 in village Dhudike, in present day Moga district of Punjab. Lala Lajpat Rai joined the Government College at Lahore in 1880 to study Law. While in college he came in contact with patriots and future freedom fighters like Lala Hans Raj and Pandit Guru Dutt. In 1929, when the Commission came to India there were protests all over India. Lala Lajpat Rai himself led one such procession against Simon Commission. While the procession was peaceful, British Government brutally lathicharged the procession. Lala Lajpat Rai received severe head injuries and died on November17, 1928.
Javaid Iqbal Vice-President University Unit was delivered the welcome address; Vikram Madhyal Chairman University Unit was delivering the vote of thanks. Among those who were present in the occasion, Sunil Kumar, yougal Kishore Chauhn, Pawan Kumar, Barket Tahir, Pushpinder Singh, Rishikesh Rana, Sheetal Aryan, and others.
