Jammu, Nov 17: The 544th birth anniversary (Parkash Utsav) of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was today celebrated with full religious fervor and gaiety across Jammu province. Huge rush of devotes was seen in the Gurudwaras across the city and the main congregation at Jammu city was held at Bibi Chand Kour Gurudwara Gummat. Earlier, in the wee hours, Prabhat Pheris were also taken out by the devotees, who were chanting religious slogans and reciting religious songs. The atmosphere was devotional and blissful everywhere. As per practice, the Prabhat Pheris are taken out every morning by the Sikh devotees which pass through various areas and finally culminate at the Gurudwaras. But on the occasion of Guruparv, these have a special significance. Soon after Prabhat Pheris, the devotees thronged at Biwi Chand kour, where big pandals were established.Religious heads from Punjab who had specially arrived at Chand Kour Gurudwara, delivered religious sermons and made the people aware about the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The celebrations of Gurupurab at various Gurudwaras culminated formally with the performance of Antim Ardas and Bhog late in the evening after which the Prasad was distributed among the devotees. |
