Kishtwar, Nov 23 : Committee on Public undertakings headed by Mohd Sharief Naiz, MLA and comprising Abdul Gaffar Sofi, Indu Pawar MLA and Syed Asgar Ali MLC today visited Kishtwar and held a high level meeting with the authorities of District Administration, NHPC, JKSPC, PDD, CVPPP, representatives of Retle, Keru and Kwar projects officials of GREF, Labour and Forest.
GM NHPC Dulhasti Power Project gave a power point presentation explaining various aspects of the project. The committee held wide discussions and deliberations regarding the issues of land acquisition, relief and rehabilitation, local employment and other socio economic impacts of the power projects in the District.
The members impressed upon the NHPC and other executing agencies to give priority to local needs and generation of employment in the region. Indu Pawar was keen to know about the women specific welfare measures been taken by the agencies.
The committee expressed its concern over the under utilization of local area development fund and wanted more stress on education, health, skill development and employment.
The NHPC informed that they are in process to adopt the ITI Kishtwar and going to start various skill development courses there. The committee recommended that the 25% of water cess collected from the Dul Hasti Project should be earmarked for the local area development.
Other issues regarding wages, welfare measures for employees' accidental claims and safety were also discussed. |
