Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 23: Two politicians one belonging to ruling party and another to opposition are under scanner as initial inquiry conducted by the House Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council has reportedly received some vital information about dubious role played by the duo.
In the last meeting of the House Committee which was held on Thursday some vital document was procured by the Committee in which role of these two persons came under scan. Although a number of officers are likely to face action after completion of the inquiry, the duo is the main target.
Highly placed sources said that House Committee members are unanimous in recommending action against these two politicians. Members are also interested that recommendations against these politicians should be made as early as possible.
The House Committee was constituted under the Chairmanship of Khalid Najib Sohrawardy constituted for look into the embezzlement of crores of rupees in JAKFED. Sources said that incumbent officers of JAKFED have shown their helplessness to submit financial statements before the House Committee because no audit has been conducted in the organisation after 1987. Furthermore, many vital financial documents, required for investigation, are either missing or untraceable.
They said that during the inquiry it was found that most of the financial statements were missing but no FIR has been lodged regarding missing of such important documents. It seems that those who were at the helm of the affairs have deliberately misplaced such important documents to hide this misdeeds and embezzlement", sources said and added that House Committee has detected one after another misdeeds during investigation. The House Committee had gone all level to expose those who were responsible for this scam worth Rs 300 crores.
They added that there was large scale of bungling in the working of JAKFED because no audit was conduct in this organisation since 1987. Committee has already detected that vital record of the organisation has been destroyed to hide misdeeds and embezzlement. It is believed that the record was destroyed at the behest of these two politicians and some other officers.
