Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 23 : Lashing out at Jammu University for what they called, issuing totally irrational statement, suspended/rusticated students who have been observing fast unto death strike outside for the last 4 days, said that Vice Chancellor himself had violated the norms of University Act.
"As per University statutes, an enquiry committee must be constituted to rusticate/suspend any student, but contrary to it, an enquiry was constituted after the rustication/suspension", they said, adding that it was for the first time in the history of country that students were suspended/rusticated without any enquiry and have not given opportunity to take exams.
They further went on to add that Vice Chancellor had declared that the committee report would be made public in 2 weeks, but after 9 weeks the decision was pending and now the disciplinary committee was constituted and it seemed that another committee would be constituted so that the career of students must be spoiled.
"Even the hardcore criminals have right to study but same is being denied to us", members of Movement for Justice (MFJ) lamented, adding that JU administration didn't want to give any democratic space to deprived sections, so VC has taken such a dictatorial decision. Meanwhile the leader of MFJ appealed to the civil administration that security should be provided to the protesting students, as there was every threat to the lives of protesting students. Communist Party of India (CPI) members today visited the dharna site and extended full support to students. CPI state General secretary G.S Charak said that the private sector was flourishing whereas there was a well planned strategy to shrink the public sector and the establishment of Gojri and Pahari research Center was the part of this strategy.
S. Dainder Singh, Vishav Nagrik President Punjab Lekhak Sabha also supported the cause by saying that it was the conspiracy of the government to divide the Gojri and Pahari unity and said that the rustication and suspension should be revoked immediately. Comrade Ashwani Pardhan (Trade unionist and Former General Secretary of AISF) also supported the cause and said that agents of RSS are working in JU campus and the students on hunger strike are also victimized by this communalized politics in JU campus.
Meanwhile IPTA vice president also supported the cause. OM Parkash Khajuria- refugee leader said that there were some refugee students who have been penalized in the issue, which was totally wrong. "If something happen to these refugee students lakhs of refugees will come on road and then JU administration will be responsible for it", he said. Amiru-din-kassana, Ch Nazakat Khatana of Gujjar Desh Youth Body, Yogesh Kumar, Raman Kumar, Sayed Jafri, Manzoor Rehman were also present on the occasion.
Pertinently, MS Bhatti, Talib Hussain, Marvi Slathia and Cathleen Kour were suspended/rusticated around two and half months back, following a scuffle with another group which was against former's demand of Gojri and Paharai Research Center establishment.
