| Three bovine smugglers held, 14 animals rescued | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI Nov 29: Police continuing its drive against the bovine smuggling in border district of Rajouri today foiled a major bovine smuggling bid to carry animals illegally to valley and arrested three smugglers besides rescuing 14 bovine animals. According to police sources, the accused have been identified namely as Mohd Imran s/o Mohd Farooq of Rajdhani, Mohd Maqbool s/o Ghual Kadir of Behrot and Altaf Ahmed s/oMohd Rashid of Churung. Meanwhile a massive manhunt has been launched to arrest the absconding driver whose identity yet has to be ascertained. "A police team led by Station House Officer (SHO) Thanamandi Saheen Mirza, laid a special naka at Behrot locality following a specific information about bovine smuggling at around 9:00pm, police sources said. "During the naka checking, sources said, "Police intercepted four vehicles bearing registration Nos JK11-1108, JK11-9185, JK11-8813 and JK11-8812 and during questioning the drivers failed to give satisfactory reply/documents about the transportation of the animals and thus were arrested on the spot while one of the driver managed to give slip to police party by taking advantage of darkness. "All accused were booked under sections 188RPC and 3 PCA act while a massive manhunt is on to nab the fourth accused who is absconding, sources said.
