21 police officials attached with PHQ await posting | | | Bashir Assad SRINAGAR, Nov 29: As many as 21 senior police officers of the rank of SSPs and SPs are attached with various wings of the department for several months thus hampering the functioning of the department. The neglect on the part of the Government has been embarrassing for the attached officers. It took seven months to the Government to order promotion of around 105 KPS officers of 2002 batch to the level of SPs and another three to four months for ordering their postings. However, what is being seen as the administrative paralysis, around 21 senior officers attached with the PHQ await orders of posting for last several months but the Government seems to be indecisive about the issue rendering the senior officials workless and embarrassed. Sources told Early Times that 21 SSPs and SPs are either attached with the PHQ or Zonal Police Headquarters or Armed Headquarters for last several months. They said the officers are drawing salaries without any assignment and the Government seems to be least bothered about their posting. Sources said that in addition to 21 senior police officers, around 60 Prosecution Officers are still awaiting their postings for last several months. "This is for the first time that such a large number of senior police officers are awaiting orders of posting and it seems that the issue finds no place in Government's priority," a senior police officers told Early Times on the conditions of not to be named. The officers wondered that the functioning of an important department like police has been so dismal and the casual attitude of the political bosses towards the functioning of the department was surprising. The attached police officials have no job in hand and were awaiting their further posting by the Cabinet. The Government had asked seven SPs posted in Jammu and Udhampur districts to report to the office of IGP Jammu on October 15 when 93 DySPs promoted as Additional SPs along with others were adjusted as SPs. Six SPs attached in the office of the IGP Jammu for last two months are also awaiting adjustment orders. Similarly six SSPs and SPs have been attached to Police Headquarters for the past three months. Likewise three SSPs and SPs have been attached in the office of IGP Kashmir and three SPs have been attached to the office of Additional DGP Armed. Apart from six SSPs, two DIGs were also awaiting their posting in the Police Headquarters. The working of the Police Department can also be gauged from the fact that three DIGs promoted last year were still working on the posts of SSPs. They included Jagdish Lal Sharma, SSP CID (Special Branch), Jammu, Vijay Singh Samyal, Commandant IRP 10th battalion and Bashir Ahmad Itoo, SSP Railways Kashmir. On the other hand more than 45 Prosecuting Officers (POs) promoted as Senior Prosecuting Officers (SPOs) some three months back too haven't been adjusted so far. |
