Jammu, Dec 2: All selected candidates for the post of warden in jail police today staged protest against delay in release of final selection list at press club Jammu. According to press release, a selected candidate Ashwani Kumar said that candidates were demanding release of final selection list, which was pending for the last more than three years due to the reasons best known to the concerned authorities. They threatened to go on hunger strike from Dec 2 if their final selection list is not issued by then. Ashwani Kumar who led the protest informed that about 43000 unemployed youth had applied for the Post, advertised in local dailies in 2005 and 1200 candidates were short listed for the interview, which was held in the month of September 2010. "We approached the Chief Minister as well as his Ministers, concern officers and senior leaders of the opposition parties also but got nothing except lip service" Ashwani rued. Ashwani Kumar urged the Chief Minister to personally look into the matter for getting the selection list released. "No recruitment has taken place in the Prison Department since 1995 and there are more than 2000 vacancies, the department is facing acute shortage of manpower but the government is delaying final selection of the candidates," said Ashwani. |
