| Allegations of attempts to foil Modi's Lalkar rally | | Home Ministry to seek report | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 2: Home Ministry is likely to seek report from the state government over complaints that a deliberate attempt was made to foil the rally of Narendra Modi on Dec 1 in Jammu. The ministry has received many complaints not only from the party but also from its own intelligence agencies and from the people. "We are reviewing the complaints and after analyzing factual position will seek report from the J&K government. It's a serious matter concerning the prospective Prime Minister and that too in a sensitive state like J&K," said a senior Home Ministry official wishing not to be named. The complaints were made after BJP leadership was informed about the attempts of the State government to foil the rally. The fact that Chief Minister was in the Jammu further strengthened the allegations. BJP leadership in the Delhi started getting complaints from early Sunday morning that going by the check points and concertina wires put out on the road even in old city it appears that the government doesn't want to allow this rally to be successful. "Even Prime Minister arrived and addressed a rally here; Just last month Rahul Gandhi, who gets the same protection as given to the Modi, but no such restrictions were put in place to deter the people from coming to rally. There was definite sinister plan and we will not allow this to go unnoticed and unpunished," said a senior BJP leader. The Home Ministry is also seeking report on why the roads leading to the venue were sealed hours in advance which never happens when even Prime Minister goes to any city. "There is procedure and rules for PM security and people who are given same level of security. So what was the reason to go overboard shall be ascertained," said a Home Ministry official. The State Government holds the views that arrangements were part of the security apparatus. But it's being contested on the ground that since J&K has now enough knowledge of the pattern of terror attacks, it could have made better security arrangements and not tried to stop people from attending the rally. |
