| Article 370 not Babri Masjid which could be demolished: Mehbooba | | | Et Report
Srinagar, Dec 2 : The opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti said that Article 370 is not Babri Masjid which BJP could demolish with the help of Hindu zealots. "It is Article 370 which connects Jammu and Kashmir with India and if it is scraped then India Kashmir's accession with India automatically becomes redundant," Mehbooba told reporters at her Gupkar residence on Monday.Mehbooba was reacting to the point made by BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi that the status of Article 370 is debatable and it could be debated in Indian Parliament.
Mehbooba Mufti said that Narendra Modi lacks information about the essence of Article 370. "Article 370 is a permanent feature of Indian Constitution and it is the only Article which connects Jammu and Kashmir with India. Abrogation of Article 370 from the Constitution can only be done with the consent of the Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir, which does not exist. Besides Modi should know that if this Article is scrapped, the bridge between India and Kashmir will collapse and Kashmir will cease to be a part of India," Mehbooba said.
She said that Modi and his company should understand that Article 370 is not Babri Masjid, which could be demolished in Jiffy. "It is Article 370 which determines India's relation with Kashmir and once it will be scraped, the accession between the two will cease," Mehbooba said adding that BJP is befooling the people of India through its hollow slogans. |
