| CE seeks report on road construction under PMGSY | | Assures action against erring officials | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 15: Taking cognizance of the allegations made in the news story that appeared in Early Times two days back, the Chief Engineer PMGSY MM Gupta has sought report on ongoing construction of a road in Nahoti village in Nowshera , Rajouri district .
The CE has also assured stern action against any officer found to have deviated from the set procedure and norms for construction of roads under PMGSY.
in less than two days the CE gave instructions to a team of senior officials including DE Vinod Kumar Dhar, SE and JE to make on spot visit of the construction works and give a detailed report on every aspect of the repairs, construction work completed os far on the said road stretch which remained under the cloud of controversies for a number of reasons in the past. A fresh assessment of some abberations were reported in the story published two days back in the concerned agency and contractors not adhering to set norms for maintaining the width of the road as also in not maintaining proepr financial record on expenditure as against the amount earmarked, sanctioned initially.
The Chief Engineer while speaking to ET assured that a detailed report has been sought and wherever any loophole would be found , steps would be taken to plug it immediately with corrective measures. He also assured action against erring officials or anyone else who have been entrusted the task of construction of the said road which would provide connectivity and vital link to many villages. |
