| CM's constituency without CEO, 69 HSSs headless for 2 years | | Department has less eligible persons to fill up vacant posts: DyCM | | Sumit Sharma
Jammu, Dec 15: Resentment brewed among the masses in general and Education Department in particular following the crippled edifice of the Education Department in Kashmir valley. Even Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah's constituency Ganderbal is running short of staff in Education Department including coveted post of Chief Education Officer (CEO). Three districts of the Kashmir valley namely Kupwara, Ganderbal and Srinagar have no Chief Education Officers for the last eight months. Further, 69 Higher Secondary Schools are running without Principals for more than two years in Kashmir valley. Sources within Education Department revealed that the education system get a setback owing to the non seriousness of the government as even after elapse of eight months, government failed to fill up the post of Chief Education Officers in three districts of the Kashmir and for the last two years the posts of the Principals of 69 Higher Secondary Schools including Higher Secondary School Pahalgam, Higher Secondary School Yaripora and Higher Secondary School Tral were vacant. Highly placed sources informed that, the concerned minister number of times was apprised about the vacant posts in Education Department but of no use, even Chief Minister is also turning a deaf ear to the basic rights of the people. It is further stated that without CEO, the supervision and inspection among private as well as government schools has been proved null and void and the ultimately sufferer are children. Even mid day meal, the scheme launched by Centre Department to enroll as much children as possible, also get setback. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand when contacted said that he too is worried about the edifice in Education Department as there are less eligible persons then the posts ( 150 Principals) to be filled up, adding, the matter in this regard is to be taken up during upcoming Cabinet meeting. He further said that earlier also to cope up with the shortage in staff he promoted about 20,000 employees including 5,000 lecturers. Speaking on , vacant posts of CEO in three districts in Kashmir, he said that process is on to fill up vacant posts as soon as possible. |
