JAMMU, Dec 15: National Conference leadership is all out to impress Congress high command to enter into pre-poll alliance with the grand-old party to ensure retain power in the State after 2014 Assembly elections. A couple of days after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Congress president Sonia Gandhi and informed her about achievements of his government in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister and patron of ruling National Conference Dr Farooq Abdullah today moved one step forward and termed Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi as future of the country. In an informal chat with media persons after presiding over concluding function of the Golf tournament here this morning, Dr Farooq Abdullah, who holds portfolio of New and Renewal Energy in Congress led UPA Government, said that Rahul is future of the country as well as Congress party. "Rahul is going to write destiny not only of Congress party but also of the nation", Dr Abdullah gave this statement while replying to query that Rahul Gandhi had convened press conference on Saturday on Jan Lok Pal Bill all due to pressure from Aam Adami Party (AAP). Strongly defending Rahul Gandhi and Congress party, Dr Abdullah said that UPA government wanted to get the Jan Lok Pal Bill passed last year but could not get the opportunity. He made it clear that Rahul Gandhi had not addressed the press conference due to pressure from any quarter. Dr Farooq Abdullah also availed this opportunity to attack BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and chided him for organizing Run for Unity throughout the country. "No question of him (Narendra Modi) uniting the country", he said. Today's statement of Dr Farooq Abdullah is the clear indication that National Conference leadership has been working on a strategy to praise Congress leadership on all platforms to ensure pre-poll alliance in J&K. NC leadership has released that a strong group within Congress has been opposing pre-poll alliance with NC in the 2014 Assembly elections so the party (NC) has decided to establish direct contact with Congress high command. Meeting of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with Congress president Sonia Gandhi was also an indication of NC's efforts to impress Congress high command for pre-poll alliance. |
