NMC demands release of pending 10% DA

Jammu, Dec 15: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today appealed to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to announce the release of pending installment of 10% dearness allowance (DA) due from July last in favor employees and pensioners of the state govt. in the next cabinet meeting itself adding that the delay in release of DA would not only put financial burden on the State exchequer to liquidate the arrears but also increase the difficulties of employees and pensioners. Addressing a well attended NMC workers rally at Marh, Shastri observed that the next DA installment to the Central and the State government employees and pensioners is already becoming due from January 2014 at the rate of 11%to catch up to the Central Govt. employees and pensioners, the State Govt. should immediately release 10% DA to its employees and pensioners adding that early release of DA would be the genuine measure to provide some financial relief to employees and pensioners said and adding that provision for such expenditure have already exists in the current year budget estimates. Pleading the cause of employees and pensioners, Shastri also demanded enhancement of medical allowance to Rs one thousand per month beside immediate release of 3rd installment of 6th pay commission arrears as rising prices of all essential commodities had made the life of salaried class and pensioners very miserable. Stressing on the need on formulation of comprehensive policy about the regularization of daily wagers casual and seasonal labor serving in various Govt. departments, Shastri further demanded early amendment in SRO 64. Removal of all pay anomalies of clerical cadre, increase in the emolument of daily wagers to rupee ten thousand per month, issuance of regularization orders of 180 daily wagers working in the Rural Development Department and release of all pending wages of causal labor working in public works department (PWD) were other demands highlighted in the rally.
