| Stalwarts to add punch to political fight in J&K Assembly polls | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 15: Even though it is too early to predict the Assembly poll outcome here in Jammu and Kashmir but the involvement of stalwarts in the political affairs of the state is going to generate lot of interest in the run up to the polls. From the Congress party Union Health and Family welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is taking keen interest in the day to day political developments in the state and keeping a close watch on the activities and working of local party leaders. Another senior leader and PCC chief Prof Saif Ud-Din Soz, clearly facing the heat and leadership challenges from within the party machinery has also lot at stake and is working over time to consolidate the party position in all three regions of the state. To give extra push to the prospects of the congress party, especially in its strong bastion here in Jammu, the Congress party is also banking heavily on the support and leadership of the party Vice Presdient Rahul Gandhi and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. The duo are expected to visit the winter capital of the state to address a party rally. The congress party, rattled by the successful BJP rally addressed by Narendra Modi and Rajnath Singh, have been waiting for their turn to exhibit their strength and send a loud a clear message to their political rivals that their strength has not gone down among the electorate even after facing poll reversals during the Assembly polls in four states. The BJP on its part is working towards regaining the lost turf in Jammu region as the image of the party took a severe beating after it was hit by sensational cross voting scam during the MLC polls. The party not only lost its credibility among the voters but is also facing tough time in projecting leaders with clean image among the masses post cross voting episode. The PDP and National Conferecne locked in straight fight in Kashmir division and in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch and in erstwhile Doda districts are sparing no effort to woo the electorate in favour of their party. Both the arch rivals have positioned their think tanks in the different districts headquarters to carry out mass contact programme and prepare a road map ahead of formally kick starting their party campaign. |
