| 8 Ranji Trophy Group-C tie Ian, Samiullah help J&K take 31 runs lead | | | Sports Reporter JAMMU, Dec 15: Unbeaten 130 runs sixth wicket partnership between Ian Dev Singh and Samiullah Beigh today powered J&K take a fine 31 runs first innings lead over Assam in the ongoing Ranji Trophy Group-C match at GGM Science College ground, here today. While Ian was in need of six more runs to complete is century, Samiullah has already crossed the milestone of a fifty. Ian made 94 runs with the help of two sixes and six boundaries and Samiullah hit eight boundaries to make 65 runs. When the stumps were drawn J&K were nearing the 300 runs mark with 294 four five in 87 overs in the first innings at the end of day-two play. Taking charge of the innings from struggling 164 for five, both these batsmen played sensible cricket and kept the bowlers busy rotating the strike. Earlier, chasing the 263 runs first innings total of Assam, J&K made a confident start with 69 runs coming from the first wicket. However, hosts lost a couple of quick wickets to come under pressure at 118 for four. Mohd Dar was retired hurt at two. From Assam, AK Das and PL Das were most successful bowlers with two wickets each. |
