Jammu, Dec 18: To further the cause of refuges, Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 (MJR-47) today constituted district and block level committees in district Kathua. According to press release, a meeting of MJR was today held at Kathua where, a district committee was formed in presence of Jagjit Singh Soodan (convenor, MJR-47). The committee office bearers included Jagbir Singh as President, Wakil Singh Advisor, KL Bakshi as Vice - President, Bhushan Sharma as Secretary, Amrik Singh (Nanak Chak) as Treasurer, Ravi Sharma as Spokesman, Joginder Singh Kala as Joint Secretary, Himat Singh as Jt. Secretary, Harjit Singh as Executive Member, Sanjeev Kumar (Barnoti) as Executive Member. Expressing his views, the newly elected president said that there were 12.5 lakh POK-47 Refugees who were still laying in camps in abject conditions and in a number of cases they didn't have possession over the constructed houses. "No compensation has been provided by the state and centre govt. for the property left behind. Whereas valley migrants are given constructed colonies, reservation in jobs, tax rebates, reservation in educational institution but nothing given so far to this section of the refugees", he said, adding, "Whereas the other selected member also laid down their views and conclude that they will not carry on such a discriminatory attitude of state towards the POK-47 refugees". However a village level committee of 6 members at Keerian Gandial in which Tej Ram Sharma was selected as President, Capt. Netar Prakash (Retd.) Darshan Lal, Harbans Singh, Kewal Ram, Babu Darshan Lal as executive members. Speaking on the occassion Jagjit Singh declared the charter of demands in the convened meetings and said that while continuing their struggle they would achieve their demands.
