Avinash Azad JAMMU, Dec 18: Giving a damn to directions issued by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, restricting extensions to officials, a tainted officer in otherwise bankrupt State Financial Corporation (SFC) is reportedly working overnight to secure extension of services. Sources informed Early Times that incumbent Managing Director of SFC, AR Makroo's tenure as MD would end on January 31, 2014 but the influential officer has been reportedly working overnight to secure an extension. "The meeting of Board of Directors is likely to be held on December 21, in which the agenda of extension to MD is likely to tabled", sources said, adding that MD has also got the support of some influential Board members, who would support his extension. They further said that such an influential Board of Director, member was Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has assured the MD, for extending full support to him for his extension. Sources further maintained that the AGM of SIDBI would likely to declare before the BOD, meeting of 21st December that the bank would financially help the otherwise bankrupt SFC for revival of same. "The MD will assure the BOD's that if gets extension of few years, he will leave no stone unturned to revive the SFC", sources said, adding that all the proceedings of the meetings have been preplanned and fixed and the meeting of BOD, would merely be a formality. Moreover, sources said that in the BOD meeting of 21st of December, MD would also take up the matter of engaging some supervisors and would project that the SFC has great requirement of supervisors. "There is no procedure to directly appoint the supervisors but to adjust some blue eyed candidates, MD would emphatically put the issue before BOD for its approval", sources said. They further maintained that some years back, MD had given retirement to some employees/supervisors under Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) and now he has planned to appoint supervisors, which was against the set up norms of Government recruitment. Castigating the approach adopted by AR Makroo as during his tenure of Managing Director of SFC, he had given thrust on recruitments, in SFC, which was already bankrupt, besides he had also got appointed some blue eyed candidates, depriving the deserving candidates. "During the tenure of AR Makroo, the condition of SFC was worsened but due to strong influence of MD, Government has turned a Nelson eye towards the issue", sources said. |
