| People seeking jobs, promotions on fake certificates in Kashmir | | Unrecognised degrees win VLW 2 promotions | | ET Report
SRINAGAR, Dec 18: Seeking Government jobs and getting promotions on the basis of fake certificates has surfaced in various places of North Kashmir district of Kupwara with the higher ups in Government maintain a stoic silence on the racket.
According to sources people in the district have managed to seek Government jobs and promotions on the plum posts on basis of fake certificates reportedly got by these students from universities outside the state through distance education despite the fact that these degrees are not recognized by Kashmir University.
Sources said that KU authorities have made it clear through a notification recently that except IGNOU and some other institutions degrees got from universities of North East etc through distance education are not recognised by the KU and all such degrees be considered as fake and not entertained by the Government.
Sources said despite the circular of the KU the authorities in various departments are ignoring this all and entertaining the degrees of the candidates which reportedly have got certificates from such universities which are not recognised by KU. This is being done at the cost of the genuine and hardworking candidates who have obtained good percentage in the examinations qualified from the universities of the State, sources added.
They said there is a brewing public resentment against this certificates scandal and nexus between authorities and agents involved in fake certificates racket. However the Government headed by Omar Abdullah has failed to bring the guilty to book and provide justice to deserving candidates of the Valley in general and Kupwara district in particular.
Sources said a NGO in the area has taken up the issue with the higher ups in Governemnt and sought a high level probe into the fake degrees racket to save the career of thousands of deserving and hardworking students of the district and Valley. But the Government has not bothered to probe the same and bring facts to light.
Sources added in such a fake degree case on employee simply matriculate who was appointed as VLW in 1982 in the district in RDD managed to get two promotions on the basis of a fake Degree certificate got by him from a University of North East which is not recognised by KU.
The employee who is presently working as BDO in the Department has no required qualification for the post but on the basis of fake certificate managed by him he got two promotions in the Department and rose to the level of BDO. Sources said the Director RDD Kashmir has charge sheeted the official and a case has been registered by Police against him. Though the Department in its charge sheet has categorically made it clear to the official that degree certificate managed by him is fake as the official does not know even the basic alphabet of the subjects shown in the certificate by him.
However the Department and police later hushed up the matter and did not take the action under rules against the official later despite the fact that the official has cheated the Government. |
