Sakina's monitoring fails CM, pensioners
3076 pension cases pending in Ganderbal

JAMMU, Dec 18: Monitoring of Social Welfare schemes by Minister Sakina Itoo have been proving a damp squib even for the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's constituency, as only in Ganderbal constituency, the pendency of Pension schemes is calculated as 3076 for the current year.
As per the official website of Ganderbal District, in the Ganderbal constituency, the pendency of pension cases under different pensionary benefit schemes of state as well as Central Governments, 3076 cases are still pending with 1501 cases in Kangan constituency, thus adding to a total of 4577 pension cases pending in the district.
Under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), for the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), in tehsil Ganderbal, about 500 cases are pending whereas in Kangan constituency of the same district it is 178 making a total of 678 persons who are yet awaiting the benefits of the national scheme.
Similarly, under two other national schemes namely Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) and Indira Gandhi National Disabled Pension Scheme (IGNDPS), the total pendency is 54 and 42 respectively.
Under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS), with 1365 persons awaiting pensionary benefits under Old Age Pension Scheme (OAPS) in Ganderbal constituency and 950 persons in Kangan, the pendency has risen to a total of 2315 persons. For the Widow Pension Scheme (WPS) and PCP scheme the pendency is 332 and 670 for the two constituencies respectively.
Under the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme, the pendency in Ganderbal and Kangan constituency as per the website of the district is 50 and for the Aam Admi Bima Yojana (AABY), National Family Benefits Scheme (NFBS), Rehabilitation for Militancy Hit Victims Scheme (RMHVS), National Foundation For Communal Harmony Scheme, the pendency is 217, 193, 12 and 14 with a total of 486 for the two constituencies respectively.
Pertinently, as per the website of the district, a total of 4577 persons are awaiting the pensionary benefits in two constituencies of the Ganderbal district.
