Kathua, Dec 18: Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association (AWWA) today held protest demonstration against state government in support of their long pending demands at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park here today.
Protesters were raising anti government slogans. They also submitted a charter of their demands to the state Government through Deputy Commissioner Kathua which included pending salaries of the eight months to the workers, to fix the Rs 11000 or to declare government employees, to provide the benefits of Gratuity and EPF. President of the Association, Sawarna Choudhary who led the protest demonstration said "Other state governments have increased the salaries of their Anganwadi helpers and workers, then why our state government had turned a blind eye to our problems," She also demanded to set up grievance committees tripartite at District and state level as per under ICDS scheme as presently official machinery failed to solve the problems of workers. Association warned the government to face the dire consequences if their demands are not solved.
