Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 18: The shopkeepers of the Bahu Fort market who were opposing the construction of Langar hall (Community Kitchen) near Kali Mata Temple have secured interim stay on the construction of langer hall from the High Court. The Jammu Development Authority (JDA), with the permission of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had started construction on project of shifting the langer Hall outside the Kali Mata Temple at Bahu Fort. According to the department the langer inside the temple was creating sewerage problems and damaging the walls of the fort. Shopkeepers Association of the Bahu Fort market however was opposing the construction of the hall alleging that it will affect the front look of the fort. "This hall will destroy the front look of this heritage and affect our business as well," said Vivek Patihal, President, Bahu Fort Shopkeepers Association. "We respect the court orders, and will stop the work," said a official of the ASI. "After the wall collapse on August 18, the administration had decided to shift the langer outside the Bahu Fort complex because due to lack of drainage, the langer located inside the fort was damaging the walls of the fort," he added.
