| Hunger strike of selected jail warden candidates' enters day 17 | | | JAMMU, Dec 18 : The aspirants who had appeared in the interviews for the post of Jail Warden in the Prison department and got into final rounds of selection continued their indefinite hunger strike on 17th consecutive day in support of demand of release of selection list at the venue in front of Press Club Jammu. They also made a bid to stage protest march towards Chief Minister's residence to express their concerns. While addressing at the protest venue, the protestors said that they will not let up their struggle until their demands are not conceded. Amid slogans against state government, the protester demanded early release of the final selection list which still is lying in abeyance for the last more than three years reasons best known to the concerned authorities. Briefing the media persons, one of the protestor informed that about 43000 unemployed youth responded to advertisement appeared for the Post, advertised in local dailies in 2005 and 1247 candidates were short listed for the interview which was held in the Month of September 2010, However, he added, even after more than three years since the interviews, the Final Selection List has not yet been released. It may be mentioned here that no recruitment has taken place in the Prison Department since 1995 and the department is facing acute shortage of manpower but the State Government knowing the fact is delaying final selection of the candidates. Protestors urged the Chief Minister to personally look into the matter for getting the selection list released. |
