| Women booked for assaulting Policemen on duty, Locals stage protest | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kishtwar, Dec 18 : Padder police registered FIRs against nearly one dozen women for assaulting police personnel on duty. As per the details available with "Early Times" the first FIR No: 26 u/s 353/341/323 RPC was registered at police station Padder against Renu Devi sister of Ganga Ram arrested by the police in connection with August 10th 2013 communal violence at Padder. The police sources said that Renu Devi allegedly assaulted SPO Pawan on the pretext that he (Pawan) informed the police about his brother's movement which led to his arrest. After the incident, SPO Pawan Kumar brought the matter into the notice of senior police officers at Kishtwar who directed the SHO Police Station Padder to register a case against the lady. After registration of an FIR , the enquiry was entrusted to Sub Inspector Sandeep Kumar. The 2nd FIR No: 28 u/s 353/342/323/147/148/109 RPC was registered after a police party which was lead by PSI Sandeep Kumar along with other policemen reached Tatta Pani village of Padder for investigations in FIR No.26 came under fresh attack by over a dozen women who allegedly manhandled/misbehave with the policemen and roughed up Sandeep Kumar and held him hostage for nearly one hour before he was retrieved by the intervention of some village heads and reinforcement of police rushed toB the village from Gulabgard after hearing about the incident. Later police registered fresh FIR against nearly one dozen women. After hearing about the registration of FIR against women, local people held strong protest against police. The matter was also taken up at political level and after the assurance from the police that the cases registered against the women will be withdrawn, the people called off their protest. |
