| STYLA alleges discrimination with officers of Gujjar community | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 18 : Alleging discrimination with the officers of the Gujjar community posted in various departments, the Scheduled Tribe Young Lawyers Association ( STYLA ), Jammu said that the government was adopting different yard sticks for the officers of the community and was denying them their due rights. The spokesperson of the association, Parvez Choudhary said that the officers/officials of this community are being compelled to run from pillar to post to get their rightful benefits. He cited the example of Shahnaz Akthar presently posted as Assistant Commissioner General, Jammu. She qualified competitive examination in 2001 and was allotted Industry and Commerce Gazetted Service (Project Manager/ Functional Manager). She discharged her duty as a project manager till 11-6-2010 when the services of the said officer were placed at the disposal of Rural Development Department. The Government issued two separate seniority lists of project manager and functional manager but the seniority of Shahnaz Akthar was fixed in the seniority list of functional manager despite she discharged her duties as Project Manager at DIC Rajouri for more than seven years. She also filed representation and objection for not including her seniority list of functional manager but the authority had not listen her grievances then she knocked the doors of High Court and filed writ petition and the same write petition was allowed on merit in favour of the officer on 4-2-2013. In spite having directions from the High Court to implement the judgment within period of three months, the Government has not implemented the said Judgment till date.Choudhary appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene that the officers of the Gujjar community should not be discriminated. |
