Kathua, Dec 19: To press the government to concede their long pending demands including regularization, district unit of Provincial Electric Employees Union launched a dharna in the office complex of Xen EM&Re Divison, under the leadership of President Davinder Sharma. Hundreds of PDD employees/workers while protesting raised slogans against govt. for its cruel attitude to harass the employees by way of their reasonless attachment, suspension and withheld of their salary. The protesters demanded regularization of daily wagers, Grade against works/job assignment, One step promotion to all PDD employees who have rendered more than seven years' service and not get any single promotion, Payment of need based workers at the earliest, Opening of new EM&RE Div. at Basohli.to reduce burden of existing EM&RE Division Kathua andReorganization of department. While speaking PC Sharma said that PDD employees were constrained to launch agitation program, as the government has been dealing with the employee's issues and rights non-seriously, while showing extreme seriousness towards the output/ results. Meter readers in Jammu province are doing their best efforts in concern of revenue realization and providing fault free service to the public but govt. is giving more and more target to the Meter Readers which is unbearable to the public as well as public representatives, they said. Later he stated Govt. has regularized few PDD daily wagers against available vacancy in district cadre posts but by the daily wagers of Kathua were neglected. Sharma demanded to create sufficient posts for those daily wagers who have completed their seven years' service. Otherwise daily wagers will start agitation leaving their important job like SBA's/ Line Man. He appealed to public to co-operate the PDD employees for revenue realization, stop use of power in illegal manners, get their connections on meter, to point out person who is power thief, to pay your bill before end of each month, not to make use of heater, use CFL's, avoiding bulbs, switch of bulbs before the shops and streets, to get the temporary connection for people residing in juggies. |
