Kishtwar, Dec 19: Principal District and Session Judge Kishtwar Pawan Dev Kotwal today awarded life imprisonment and fine of Rs. 5000 to 45 year old accused namely Ashok Kumar Baghat son of Kunj Lal Baghat resident of Traksina Astanbala Kishtwar for murdering his wife Thakri Devi, mother of three. Public Prosecutor R K Ghoswani appeared on behalf of the state while senior advocate Om Prakash Parihar appeared on behalf of accused. After hearing both sides, the session Judge upheld the arguments of Public Prosecutor and awarded life imprisonment to the accused. As per the details, Kishtwar police registered FIR No.186/2009 U/S 302 RPC dated 25-10-2009 against Ashok Kumar who after murdering his wife packed the body inside jute bag and dumped under the cover of the drain near his house. The accused after committing the crime and dumping the dead body of his wife , in a bid to cover up his misdeed started searching for his wife in neighbours house before the people noticed blood strains near the drain and brought the matter into the notice of police who later recovered the dead body packed in a jute bag from the drain. Accused later confessed to the crime and on his discloser, Kishtwar police also recovered blood stained bedding of the deceased Thakri Devi on it and accordingly booked the accused. After trial of nearly four years, the Principal District and Session Judge awarded life imprisonment to the accused today, subject to the confirmation by the High Court. |
