| Dry, chilly weather in Kasmir; Leh recrods minus12.2 deg | | | Srinagar, Dec 19 : Dry and chilly weather will continue in the Kashmir Valley and Ladakh region, where Leh continued to freeze with minus 12.2 degrees celsius minimum temperature while Kupwara with minus 3 degrees was coldest in the valley. Elsewhere in the valley, including Srinagar, the minimum temperature was above normal. The sky was cloudy resulting in cold since this morning. A Met department spokesman said weather will be mainly dry and cold over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. Foggy conditions will prevail over plains of Jammu tomorrow, he forecast. He said there would be no large change during subsequent two days. Kupwara in north Kashmir was colder than world famous ski resort of Gulmarg and health resort of Pahalgam. The spokesman said the minimum temperature was minus 3 degrees, a notch below normal at Kupwara. Gulmarg recorded minus 2.6 degrees, he said, adding it was 2.6 degrees at Pahalgam. Qazigund recorded 1.8 degree and Kokernag 1 degree, again above normal. Srinagar, where the night temperature was a degree above normal, witnessed cloudy weather resulting in cold during the day. The spokesman said there would be mainly clear sky with morning haze in the city tomorrow. Leh in Ladakh region recorded minus 12.2 degree minimum temperature a notch less than yesterday when it was minus 11 degree. The Met spokesman said there would be mainly clear sky in Leh tomorrow when the maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 7 degree and minus 12 degree respectively. |
