| Dense fog in North India affects trains, flights | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 19: All the trains from Jammu Tawi railway station are running late by more than four hours due to dense Fog enveloping neighboring northern Indian states for the last two days. Not only the trains but the flight operations in Jammu were also affected due to the fog today as most of the flights were delayed due to the low visibility. Official sources informed that most of the flights are coming late due to the dense fog at Jammu and New Delhi airport. Some of them have also got cancelled in last few days. Jammu Tawi railway station have total traffic of about 30 trains daily up and down, out of which about ten trains are running late by more than four hours. Muri Express which had to be arrived at Jammu Railway station from Tata Nagar, is running late by 6 hours, while the Sawaraj Express which had started journey from Mumbai Bandra and is scheduled to reach in Jammu on tomorrow is running 3hours behind schedule. "Most of the trains which are to arrive at Jammu Railway Station today evening or tomorrow morning are running late by 5 to 6 hour, but we are trying to send all the trains from Jammu on time," said officials in Northern Railways. "It is all due to dense fog, the trains are getting late," he added. Shalimar Express which left Jammu on time at 8:45 pm has reached Delhi at 4:30, which has got delayed by 5 hours. Passengers especially the Vaishno Devi pilgrims and army personnel were facing tough time at Railway station due to extreme cold conditions in Jammu. They were seen strolling at Jammu Railway Station and waiting for their trains. "We have to go back tomorrow evening, but we reached here this evening due to ddelay of train, now we have to travel to Vaishno Devi during night, so that we could reach back in Jammu by evening," said A. K. Singh, a pilgrim from Delhi along with his family. |
