JAMMU, Dec 19: Alleging fast running of electricity meters more than the actual speed, the workers of Dogra Front (DF) and Shiv Sena (SS) Jammu & Kashmir under the leadership of their president Ashok Gupta took out a protest march against Power Development Department (PDD). The protesters, who were holding electricity meters in their hands, began the procession from Rani Park which culminated at City Chowk.
Shouting slogans against PDD, the workers alleged that due to the fast running of the meters the people have to shell out more money than the actual usage.
In Ward No 3, the workers of DF and SS installed parallel meters alongside the actually installed meters in some of the houses where it came to fore that the meters installed by the department are running faster than it is supposed which means faster moving meter means more bill.
Gupta demanded that the PDD department should install parallel meters in the entire Jammu city and check the running of the meters and if any meter is found to have some fault,it should be replaced with a genuine meter. He further demanded strong action against the culprits who were responsible for the purchasing of the meters on behalf of the PDD. |
