jammu, Dec 21:All Jammu and Kashmir Joint Churches Fellowship today took out a peace procession in which different churches of Jammu city participated. The procession was taken out in connection with Christmas celebrations to pray for the peace and prosperity of the State and country as a whole. The procession started from Shaheedi Chowk after passing through various main markets of the city with a message of peace, harmony and brotherhood among people it culminated at Shaheedi Chowk. The procession comprising of different tableaux depicting the birth, works and Christ’s precious teachings on love, harmony, peace, and brotherhood left people spell bound. The Choires of different Churches sang Christmas carols and both Choires and Jhankis were real attraction of the procession. The local priests also preached about the precious teachings of Jesus Christ and specially prayed for the peace and harmony. During the celebrations all Jammu Christmas carol singing competition was organized by St. Mary’s Garrison Church at Gandhi Nagar. People dressed as Santa Claus, angles, a chariot with King Herod and soldiers of the Roman cavalry were the special attraction in the procession. The inauguration ceremony was performed by senior priests of churches of the Jammu region, who participated in the procession along with church members and choirs. Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir Joint Churches Association thanked the administration, the Police Department, the Traffic Department, the Jammu Municipal Corporation, shopkeepers and traders of Jammu for their cooperation. |
