SRINAGAR, Dec 21: Even as the Government is trying its best to come out of the scams, the Estates Department has been hosting favourites. Even temporary employees of the DDK facing probes enjoy department's hospitality.
The document details in possession of Early Times and information received from the sources reveal that people working as casual base employees in Door Darshan Kendra (DDK) Srinagar (shown as permanent employees of DDK Srinagar in documents submitted to Estates Department) are enjoying the free accommodation since 2002 despite complaints from people and probes ordered by the timely placed officials in many cases.
According to order number 70 DE of 2002, dated 05/02/2002 with a reference of the then Deputy Director Estates Srinagar under letter number 3-E(1/2)NP/1913/est dt 24-09-2001, accommodation to one blue eyed person who according to the sources is working as casual base employee has been shown as "NEWS MONITOR" working in DDK Srinagar.
However, according to the sources working within DDK Srinagar there is no such post of News Monitor in DDK Srinagar and neither is the said on the pay rolls in DDK Srinagar presently as well.
The documents reveal that despite probe orders which include GAD (ADM)288/2007-1 dated 26/12/2012, then Deputy Secretary General Administration Department (GAD) under the said order number and date ordered the Director Estates to inquire the matter and present the factual report behind such an allotment no action was taken against anybody.
A local who filed a complaint under reference number 07/12/2012 in the offices of the Commissioner Secretary GAD and Director Estates under dispatch number 590 dt 11/12/12 and has also filed an RTI under reference number DDES/RTI/2012/1364 dated 08/11/2012, the concerned officials of the department of Estates who according to the sources are motivated by some bureaucrats and politicians does not even dare to approach the said person and make him responsible for anything.
Sources said that in Natipora, Rajbagh, Dalgate and Jawahar Nagar areas many blue eyed people mostly Government officials and kith and kin of politicians who have occupied rooms have also occupied similar Government accommodations in other districts of the Kashmir and in Jammu as well.
Sources also said that there is no check and balance on payment of electricity bills, water bills and usage of electricity and water for people living in such luxurious accommodations.
The Director Estates, Sheikh Fayaz asked Early Times to let him know about such irregularities in allotment.
